* Nutrition is important to athletes because of the amount of exercise being done and the resultant calories and carbohydrates consumed, because of this exercise.

* Athletes need good nutrition so that they can recover quickly after exercise.

* Athletes need good nutrition so that they can avoid injury.

* Athletes need good nutrition so that they can improve their performance level.

* Athletes need good nutrition so that they can improve their conditioning.

* Athletes achieve their peak performance by rigorous training and eating a specific variety of foods.

* Athletes gain much by the quantity of carbohydrates stored in their body.

* Optimum nutrition is necessary for maximum performance for an athlete.

* Water is essential before, during and after exercise.

NB: - If you are not doing a lot of exercise this type of nutrition is not recomended, because you are better to eat a more balanced diet, with a variety of food that suit normal nutrition needs, rather than special purpose ones that support high exercise levels.
